One Power Available to All

Many of us call ourselves seekers. Mankind has typically looked outside rather than inward for Universal Truths. Ancient civilizations turned to Nature in their search for meaning and created
Gods out of Nature. Mankind has thus personified God. As a friend of mine used to say, "we’ve gone and put pants and a beard on God." An excellent example of this is the personification of the basketball in the movie Castaway starring Tom Hanks.
Religions and churches were formed around this initial seeking. I am glad to see that today we are moving back to a sense of pure spirituality. We are evolving spiritually - hence our name - Center for Spiritual Evolution. Spirituality refers to our feelings about God, the Universe and our place in it, in other words our oneness with God. Religion on the other hand is man’s theology about God.
Religious Science does not have a have a list of rules or tenets to follow. We do have our Declaration of Principles or statements of beliefs. One of those principles is that there is One Power Available to All. It is creative and it is spiritual. This power is Omnipotent, meaning it is all powerful. This power is Omniscient, meaning it is all knowing. This power is Omnipresent, meaning it is everywhere present at all times.
We teach that everything begins in Mind or consciousness with our thought. All thought is creative. We are always causing something to happen.. All of our experiences whether success or failure, sickness or health, abundance or lack are controlled by our thoughts. We are thinker behind the thought.
Science of Mind is the study of this Creative Power behind all Creation. Greek philosopher Plotinus said that Spirit creates out of Itself. This is the power of creation. In Religious Science we call this Power by many names: First Cause, The Thing Itself, Spirit, Intelligence, Holy Spirit, Infinite, Divine Presence, God, Principle or Law. Man’s greatest discovery is his use of this Creative Power of Mind. The first step in manifesting this Power in your life is to recognize your true identity as a Divine being of light.
The Thing Itself, as Ernest Holmes refers to it in the opening chapters of the Science of Mind, is the Creative Power behind all creation - it is OUR Power and it is always available for our use. This Power is limitless because it is Omnipotent. This Power works for us by working through us. Yet in order for us to use It, we must release It.
The pine cone which comes from the Lodge Pole Pine trees - drops to forest floor like all other pine cone’s, except these are sealed shut so the seed cannot escape to be germinated. It may be decades before a forest fire sweeps through. The heat melts the seal and the seed is finally released.
We often wait for the fire of destruction to run through our lives causing an unbearable pain before we release the seed of Power, The Presence of God in our lives. When all the while we could be using the fire of desire to unlock our power.
Desire is always being born in us. It is God’s idea seeking expression by means of you. The Power behind all creation is the God Within. It works for us by working through us. It is up to us to be sure that our believes are based on Spiritual Truths not someone else’s idea or opinion. Not on someone else’s list of rules and regulations but on your own personal connection with the Presence of Light in you.
